Our Story

My journey began because I didn’t have all the answers. So I spent my life asking questions.

Our Story

The name Our Generation has been with me since I was fifteen years old.

Growing up, I was a curious child. I constantly asked questions, challenged ideas, and wanted to understand why people thought, felt, and behaved the way they did. I often felt different from my peers and experienced the world in ways I couldn't always explain. While I excelled academically and was invited into advanced learning opportunities, I sometimes struggled to feel fully understood.

My father played a significant role in my life. He was always present, involved, hardworking, and always did the very best he could for our family… still does to this day. As a child, there were things I didn't understand and feelings I couldn't make sense of. As an adult, I have gained a deeper understanding of his experiences, sacrifices, and the challenges he carried. That understanding has only increased the love, respect, and gratitude I have for him.

One of the conversations we had growing up would eventually inspire the name of this center.

My father would often say, "Your generation is different. They don't make them like our generation anymore."

And one day, I responded, "Who do you think raised us?"

What began as a teenage response became a lifelong question.

That moment helped me realize that generations are connected. Children do not develop in isolation. They are shaped by families, communities, educators, and the experiences that surround them. Every generation influences the next.

For as long as I can remember, I have been passionate about understanding people. Long before mental health became a common conversation, I was fascinated by human behavior, emotional well-being, relationships, and the impact that childhood experiences have whether good or challenging throughout a person's life.

Those experiences eventually led me to a career in education and child development.

After more than fourteen years working with children and families, one truth has remained constant: every child deserves to feel safe, seen, valued, and understood.

At Our Generation, we believe children thrive when they feel a sense of belonging. We believe curiosity should be encouraged, relationships should be nurtured, and families should be valued as partners in a child's journey.

Most importantly, we believe that every generation has something valuable to teach the next.

The children we care for today will become the generation that shapes tomorrow. The foundation we help build now will influence families, communities, and futures for years to come.

That is why we are called Our Generation.

Because their future belongs to all of us.
